For 31 years , I stood at the front of a classroom, unravelling the mysteries of Computer Science to eager minds. It was a fulfilling journey, but as the years passed, a quiet passion for something more creative tugged at my heart. Finally, I took the plunge ,bidding farewell to textbooks and algorithms to embark on a new adventure - building an online jewellery and saree store on Instagram.
The transition from teacher to entrepreneur was not without its challenges. The structured world of academics gave way to the dynamic landscape of e-commerce where every click mattered.Learning the ropes of social media marketing became my new lesson plan and I embraced it with the same fervour that fuelled my teaching days.
Building a brand from scratch meant wearing multiple hats. I became the designer,marketer, and customer service representative, navigating the online marketplace. It wasn’t always smooth sailing but the fulfilment derived from creating something tangible eclipsed the challenges. The entrepreneurial journey has taught me resilience and adaptability. Just as in the ever evolving tech world, staying relevant in the fashion industry demands continuous learning and innovation.
I have found myself embracing change with the same enthusiasm I encouraged my students to adopt. As I reflect on this transition, I realise that my teaching background has been an invaluable asset. The ability to communicate effectively, understand diverse perspectives and nurture relationships has been instrumental in shaping my entrepreneurial path. So here I am, not just an educator turned entrepreneur , but someone who found a new rhythm in the symphony of life - a melody composed by passion, creativity and the courage to embrace change.
